Attorneys for Accidents Related to Truck Driver Fatigue

Holding Negligent Truck Drivers Accountable for Accidents They Caused

Big rig trucks are a frequent sight on our roads and freeways and are the cause of many catastrophic and fatal accidents. When an 18-wheeler truck driver continues to drive while fatigued, he or she risks causing a serious accident through inattention, slow reaction time or falling asleep at the wheel.

At Britton Law, P.A., we aggressively pursue justice for people involved in motor vehicle accidents with semitrucks. Our truck driver fatigue accident lawyer, Rebecca Britton, has extensive experience in dealing with these cases and knows how to hold the negligent parties responsible for their actions. For a free consultation, please call 910-401-3356 or contact us online.

Uncovering the Evidence

Truck drivers are required to follow the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines regarding the number of consecutive hours they drive without taking a rest. These guidelines include:

  • Not driving for a period more than 14 consecutive hours without being off duty for 10 consecutive hours
  • Of those 14 consecutive hours, the driver may only drive 11 hours and must use the remaining three hours for breaks
  • As of June, 2013, drivers must take a 30-minute rest break after eight hours of driving time

Unfortunately, many truck drivers keep two sets of logs to account for their driving time, masking the fact that they were driving too long between breaks. Trucking companies may also pay by the trip as opposed to paying by the mile, encouraging risky behavior. We look for all the evidence in your case to show negligence on the part of the driver, and we fight for fair compensation for your injuries from the trucking company involved.

Accidents involving semitrucks frequently turn out badly for the smaller vehicle and its occupants, resulting in catastrophic injuries and death. We offer reliable, compassionate service and aggressive representation for these cases.
