Stand-up comedian struck, killed by drunk driver in North Carolina

We have heard the message countless times here in Fayetteville: Drunk driving is extremely dangerous. Yet, drunk driving accidents continue to take the lives of hundreds of people throughout the country every year.

Over the weekend, another innocent motorist was killed by a drunk driver in North Carolina. The victim was only 38. He was a stand-up comedian who was recently married and from Tennessee. The man had recently been performing in North Carolina and was driving to the airport to go back home when the tragic accident happened.

According to reports, the fatal drunk driving accident occurred in Durham on Sunday, Feb. 17. The comedian had been driving on Interstate 40 when his vehicle was suddenly struck from behind. The collision caused both drivers to lose control of their vehicles, and both vehicles overturned as the cars drove off of the road.

The comedian died in the car accident. The driver who allegedly caused the crash survived the accident. Police reported that the driver may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Drunk drivers may face legal consequences for their actions in North Carolina, but these consequences usually are not enough for victims and families of victims to feel as if justice has been served.

Accident victims and their families have the right to seek compensation for their pain, suffering, medical expenses, lost wages and other damages after being harmed by a drunk driver or after losing a loved one in a drunk driving crash. By filing a personal injury or wrongful death claim, crash victims and families of victims may be able to recover the compensation they need in order to move on with their lives and find some sort of closure after experiencing such a tragic event.
