Establishing a business in the New Year? We can help

The New Year can be an exciting time for people in North Carolina who are looking to start fresh. For some, that means eating a new, healthier diet while others may be preparing to lay the foundation for a new business. While the time may seem perfect for establishing a business, those embarking on this journey might benefit from making sure that they are as prepared as possible for the adventure.

Identifying both the short-term and long-term goals of any business is key to the overall success. From there, it can be easier to decide what kind of entity will be the most appropriate, particularly for tax purposes. Different entities include S corporations and LLCs (limited liability companies), among others.

Protecting yourself and your business is exceptionally important. Carefully drafted agreements and contracts can be a solid step in the right direction. Employment contracts can include nondisclosure agreement to protect trade secrets or even noncompete agreements to ward off competition that may attempt to lure away exceptional employees.

Contracts aren't just for employees, either. From suppliers to business partners, contracts clearly lay out the terms and parameters under which each party is expected to behave. The exciting undertaking of establishing a business in North Carolina can be understandably overwhelming, but with the right guidance, it doesn't have to be. We have years of experience working with both small and large businesses to establish entities, draft agreements and make sure that a new business gets off on the best foot possible. If you're considering starting your own business or have already begun the process, consider reading here for more information about what else you can do to build the strongest foundation possible for your company.
