North Carolina college student killed in drunk driving accident

Motor vehicle accidents are a daily occurrence on our Fayetteville roads and often result in minor damages. Individuals involved in the typical fender bender are able to quickly exchange insurance information and continue on to their destinations. Unfortunately, accidents involving drunk drivers often result in serious injuries and can change the lives of many in just the course of one day.

This week, friends and family members are mourning the loss of a North Carolina college student who was killed in a crash caused by a drunk driver. A pregnant woman and another individual were also injured in the crash.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred Sunday evening when the driver of a Volkswagen Passat attempted to make a lane change on Highway 321 in Catawba County. When making the lane change, the Passat struck a Jeep Cherokee.

The force of the impact caused both vehicles to roll over and off of the highway. The passenger in the Passat died at the scene of the crash after she was ejected from the vehicle. She was only 21 years old and was a student at Gaston College. A pregnant woman and another individual in the Jeep were injured in the crash and currently remain hospitalized.

According to reports, the 27-year-old driver of the Passat was drunk at the time of the fatal crash.

Losing a loved one in a drunk driving accident is a tragic event. Family members are often left feeling angry and helpless knowing that the accident could have been prevented. For this reason, many families who have lost a loved one in a drunk driving crash choose to work with a personal injury attorney in order to seek justice and compensation for their tragic loss.
