Woman executes driver's test by crashing into Fayetteville DMV

Motor vehicle accidents can be tragic events that forever change the lives of victims and their family members. These types of serious accidents certainly illustrate the importance of good driving habits on behalf of all motorists in order to ensure the safety of others on our North Carolina roads.

Fortunately, not all car accidents result in serious injuries and instead, these incidents serve as a reminder of the fact that accidents do happen. When these minor incidents occur on a daily basis, many victims discover that they can easily move on with their lives knowing that the insurance company of the at-fault driver will be held liable for covering the small damages. Last week, one driver's simple error caused several people to suffer minor injuries as well as thousands of dollars in damage to a Department of Motor Vehicles office in Fayetteville.

According to reports, a 77-year-old woman was just about to finish a test to renew her driver's license at the Fayetteville DMV on Elm Street. However, as she attempted to park the car in the parking lot of the DMV, she accidentally stepped on the gas pedal of the vehicle instead of the brake. The car crashed into the window of the DMV office before coming to a rest in the building.

Two people were taken to a local hospital by ambulance. Several others sought medical attention after the incident. It is estimated that the building sustained nearly $50,000 in damage.

Police reported that the woman will not be cited for the incident but she is at fault for causing the injuries and damage. Since the woman is at fault, the victims of the accident may be eligible to pursue compensation for their injuries and damages.

Although many accidents may result in minor injuries and damages, when an uninsured or underinsured driver is at fault for causing an accident, minor damages may suddenly turn into very costly expenses for an accident victim. For this reason, victims of vehicle accidents may choose to work with an attorney in order to aggressively pursue the compensation they need to pay medical bills and other expenses resulting from an accident that was not their fault.
