Pedestrian, motorist seriously injured in Fayetteville car crash

A minor fender-bender was not the cause of several injuries that were reported after an accident in Fayetteville last week. According to police, a 27-year-old man was driving recklessly on the road before he caused a serious accident and struck several objects including a pedestrian and another vehicle.

The victims of the accident may be feeling fortunate right now to have survived, but their recovery will not be quick. Two of the victims suffered serious injuries including broken bones. Depending on the severity of their injuries, they may need to undergo costly surgeries and take several weeks off of work while they recover. This could certainly create a very stressful situation for these folks and their families if they do not have access to extra cash in order to pay for their medical expenses and hospital bills.

According to police, a pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk along Cumberland Road when she was suddenly struck by a Chevy Impala. The driver of the Impala had allegedly crossed four lanes of traffic on Cumberland Road before running over the curb and hitting the woman on the sidewalk. But the damage didn't end there.

After hitting the pedestrian, the Impala did not come to a stop until it crashed into a traffic control box and an SUV. The passenger side of the SUV was struck, pinning the passenger inside. Rescue crews were able to extricate the passenger from the SUV about 45 minutes after the crash occurred.

In addition to the pedestrian and SUV passenger suffering serious injuries in the accident, the driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries including cuts and bruises. All three accident victims and the driver who was responsible for causing the crash were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after the incident. The driver was charged.
