Cumberland County boy dies from injuries after ATV accident

One of the most difficult experiences a parent could ever be forced to go through is to lose a child after an accident. Sadly, one Cumberland County family was recently put through this very difficult and trying situation.

Over the weekend, the family's 11-year-old son died from injuries he suffered after an all-terrain vehicle accident. Another child who was involved in the ATV wreck did survive. Authorities are investigating the fatal accident. According to reports, another child was killed in a similar accident that had happened only a few weeks ago in Sampson County.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office reported that the11-year-old was a passenger on the ATV when the accident occurred. The driver, another child, apparently lost control of the vehicle. The passenger was not wearing a helmet and died from his injuries at a local hospital. Police said the fatal ATV accident happened on the property of a friend's house in Fayetteville.

North Carolina parents may understand that they cannot always protect their children. Kids are active and adventurous, and sometimes they do dangerous things that can lead to serious injuries when their parents are not around to keep a close eye on them.

However, many serious and fatal accidents are caused by other people's negligence. When this happens, parents have every right to defend their family's rights and to recover compensation for damages, including pain and suffering. No amount of money could ever replace the life of a child who was killed in an accident, but parents may at the very least be able to recover compensation for a child's medical bills or funeral expenses by filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
