Cumberland County accident could lead to wrongful death case

For a family, there is no greater tragedy than the unexpected loss of one of its members. Regardless of the age of the victim, it is a blow that takes years, even a lifetime, from which to recover. A family in Cumberland County has experienced the ultimate tragedy: two brothers were killed simultaneously in a deadly accident that could have most likely been prevented. Additionally, the accident could result in a wrongful death case on behalf of a third victim.

A 22-year-old male was driving through the county with his 15-year-old brother, a 20-year-old, and a 19-year-old. The latter two were cousins. The car was allegedly traveling at speeds nearing 100 mph when the driver lost control. He crashed into a pipe and mailbox before hurtling into a tree.

The driver, his brother, and the 19-year-old passenger were all killed instantly. The remaining passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Although he survived, he likely faces a long road to recovery. Reports indicate that the victims were drinking prior to the accident.

The tragic story is another illustration of the dangers of drinking and driving; as a result, the people of Cumberland County are dealing with this unexpected blow. Because of the apparent decisions of the driver, at least two families have been forever altered. Along with life without their loved ones, the families of the deceased face the expenses of laying their loved ones to rest. While tragic for both families, the family of the 19-year-old could consider a wrongful death case on his behalf. If a civil court determines the driver is liable for the accident due to negligent actions, they could be awarded reimbursement for monetary damages sustained.
