2 injured, 2 killed in 2-vehicle North Carolina wreck

Two individuals were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Oct. 21 in Salisbury. One of the deceased was a social studies teacher at Davie County High School. The 57-year-old was traveling with three other people at the time of the accident.

The Salisbury Police Department reported that the collision occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on Jake Alexander Boulevard when a male truck driver crashed into the back of a parked Honda. The teacher and a 93-year-old woman, both sitting in the back seat, were killed in the accident. An 82-year-old woman sitting in the front seat of the car was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in critical condition. The 61-year-old Honda driver was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in an unknown condition.

Authorities report that the driver of the truck was not charged in the accident. The man was not injured, and no information about the cause of the accident has been released.

Although the cause of this fatal automobile accident remains unknown and no charges have been filed, a motorist who causes a wreck may still hold liability in civil court. The family of a deceased victim may choose to pursue a wrongful death claim against the potentially negligent party involved. Official police reports, witness statements and traffic camera footage of the crash could all be used as evidence by a lawyer to support the family's claim. A victim's family might recover the expenses of their loved one's medical care, burial costs and lost future earnings.
